It requires systemic change: new forms of collaboration, rethinking business models, experimentation, and a willingness to openly discuss challenges for which no solutions yet exist.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"1088\"><strong data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"588\">Tiit Land<\/strong> emphasised that increasing Estonia&#8217;s productivity requires greater innovation and closer collaboration between universities and industry. In TalTech \u2013 Tallinn University of Technology&#8217;s new strategy, collaboration with businesses plays a central role: research outcomes must reach beyond the university. This is particularly important in <strong data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"946\">Ida-Viru County<\/strong>, where the industrial base, the need for a just transition, and the potential of the circular economy converge in a highly practical context.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1514\">The experiences of <strong data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1136\">TalTech Virumaa College<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1179\">TalTech Circular Economy Core Lab<\/strong>, and the <strong data-start=\"1189\" data-end=\"1216\">Baltic Circular Hotspot<\/strong> demonstrated that the necessary expertise, networks, and scientific capabilities already exist. This type of collaboration between academia and industry \u2013 supported organisationally by the TalTech Circular Economy Core Lab \u2013 creates the conditions for locally developed ideas to reach broader markets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1516\" data-end=\"1934\">The participating companies also confirmed that innovation is rarely fast or linear. <strong data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1620\">Ragn-Sells AS&#8217;s<\/strong> development of a process for producing calcium carbonate from oil shale ash illustrates why collaboration with research institutions is essential when developing complex technologies. Before a full-scale production facility can be built, technologies must be tested, refined, validated, and continuously improved.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1936\" data-end=\"2259\">The example presented by <strong data-start=\"1961\" data-end=\"1970\">KA O\u00dc<\/strong>, which focuses on extending the lifecycle of industrial packaging, highlighted another important aspect of the circular economy. Circularity is not only about recycling waste. Often, the greatest value lies in keeping materials and packaging in their original use for as long as possible.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2261\" data-end=\"2505\">The future of the circular economy depends on the quality of collaboration. Businesses need access to scientific expertise, researchers need real-world challenges, and regions need networks that help local solutions reach international markets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2507\" data-end=\"2633\">This is precisely the role of <strong data-start=\"2537\" data-end=\"2548\">Adapter \u2013 <\/strong>to serve as the bridge where challenges, knowledge, and opportunities come together.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2635\" data-end=\"2721\">The event was organised in cooperation with the <strong data-start=\"2683\" data-end=\"2720\">TalTech Circular Economy Core
